Hoe een kunstproject bijna leidde tot een Ghanese auto-industrie: avond olv Marcia Luyten met demonstratie van de Afrikaanse auto ‘Turtle 1’ en presentatie van de gelijknamige longread, een nieuw journalistiek genre.

The National Road Service has offert the Turtle 1 project a helping hand.
The car will be tested at the cirquit of the National test site in Lelystad.
De volgende fase
De auto heeft de testrit naar de haven van Tema glorieus doorstaan. De auto is in een gekoelde container – die normaal gebruikt wordt voor vervoer van bananen – geplaatst en ingeklaard door de douane. Het schip vertrekt vandaag, 24 april, vanuit Tema voor een reis van ongeveer 10 dagen naar Antwerpen. Na aankomst in België en vervoer naar Rotterdam per vrachtwagen, gaat het project een volgende fase in. Op de website kunt u hier de komende tijd meer over lezen…..
Mission accomplished
The car is ready for export! The final testdrive is to the capital Accra. 250 KM, 12 roadblocks and many dustroads ahead. After nine weeks we develloped an African car from scratch; the SMATI TURTLE 1. Today the Ashanti king Otumfuo Osei Tutu II comes to our workshop in Suame Magazine to bless our journey. For everybody a special day. This is the first time a king visits Suame Magazine. A huge recognition to the people of the area and a huge media hype for the SMATI TURTLE 1.
